My family website has been in operation for several years and gets somewhat regular, though low volume, hits. My kids often check the site, and as I learn more about how to safely leverage the web I intend to grow this into a better resource. At one time I started to set up a Yahoo group, and thought that would become useful for my kids as they grew into their own families. Things like special dates, addresses, etc. Unfortunately, Yahoo doesn't support it anymore - its still there but not easy to get to .

Make a T chart listing the pros and cons of each alternative.
Set a time limit for fact finding. Lack of information should not paralyze you from decision making.
Keep your organizations mission nearby and refer to it when making the decision.
