Ty and Mark made a cake for a contest with Cub Scouts tonight. Ty's cake won the prize for the "Funniest Cake". There were 38 cakes in total and all cakes had to be 100% edible. Ty's cake was a plate of spaghetti (Ty's favorite food). It was inspired by something that Debi Brown did, and she provided some instructions. The "spaghetti" is made of icing colored with a small amount of cocoa and some yellow food die and was squirted on top of the cake by cutting a small hole in the corner of a ziploc bag. The "sauce" is rasberry jelly. We used sugar-free to get a brighter red color and sprinkled it on top of the spaghetti with our fingers. The "meatballs" are Ferrero Rocher chocolates rolled in the rasberry jelly, and come out of the box with a perfect meatball-like texture. The "shredded cheese" is actually shredded white chocolate.
Ty and Dad had a terrific time making the cake, and Ty was very proud that he won an award.

In August 2009, Toni Jones took Ty to the Corning Glass museum. In addition to the tour, Ty spent quite a bit of time learning how to work with glass in a hands-on way. He designed a drinking glass, and used a blowpipe to make a beautiful ornament. He had a terrific time.
Thank you Toni for the wonderful experience.
